A great, fully entertaining event which visited Taittinger in Reims, Louis Jadot in Beaujolais and the street celebration in Beaujeu. The hilarious fancy dress "Rally Day" saw Paul Brazier winning the shotest mileage challenge and Mike and Viv Haynes biggest fund raisers, both for the second year in a row.
We also had an Aston run out of fuel, an MG with broken wheel bearings and a Porsche which broke down before getting to Eurotunnel. Then during the Rally Day, the Porsche was bogged in the mud and towed to safety. Check out all the pics and video online now.

After 4 days and hundreds of miles of driving we find ourselves back in Reims. A beautiful venue and everyone in black tie. The evening started off with champagne and canapes, we all moved upstair for the sit down dinner. To our surprise we had a special guest...Tiff Needell. We also had the ambassador from Taittanger to come speak to us about the fine Champagnes we were treated to during dinner.
Well this is what we’ve been waiting for…Reims to Macon, 5 stages, 60 cars….who can do it in the least miles!!!
An early start today with the drivers starting to arrive at Goodwood from 6:45am. After a briefing from Rob, each driver got flagged off the line and we all made our way to the Channel Tunnel. Harrison Brown of Hotel.TV suffered a minor set back with his coil pack...luckily he was able to limp his 911 to the Porsche dealership in Brighton for a quick fix.
Beaujolais Run 2007 got underway today with the calibration of all competitor vehicles and the team briefing. Press and spectators turned out to see the cars drive around the roads surrounding Goodwood Motor Circuit, giving the drivers a chance to check out the competiton. Check out all the action, see video, pics and blogs. The evening reception and charity auction at Harwoods went well with unique prizes going under the hammer including a racing suit signed by several pro racing drivers including the late great Colin McRae.
The Goodwood Circuit is once again the starting grid for this year's Hackett Beaujolais Run 2007. 60 cars will line up on the famous circuit to raise money for Winston's Wish, The Downs Syndrome Association and The Richard Burns Foundation. Hotels.tv has entered another team this year after 2 of its entries finished absolutely NO where in 2006! The aim of the game is to navigate from Reims via several checkpoints and get to the finish in Macon with the lowest mileage, all whilst wearing the fancy dress theme "people from history".... easier said than done! Checkout the highlights from last year.
Paul Brazier & Ben Taylor of Overbury Plc came home in style as winners of the Hackett Beaujolais Run 2006. Both dressed to kill as James Bond in a Lotus Esprit, they took the Aston Martin of Jeremy Hackett and Neil Bugler by 1 mile...\n\nPaul Brazier & Ben Taylor of Overbury PLC came home in style as winners of the Hackett Beaujolais Run 2006. The morning broke to scenes of Scooby Doo, Superman, Dr Evil & Austin Powers. Teams made a great effort of dressing up in requested theme of goodies and baddies. Once the clues and competitor packs were distributed drivers headed off in search of the first checkpoint, Bouzy...\n\nWhat a spectacle seeing a Mercedes carrying characters from Allo Allo, a Ford Galaxy packed with superheroes, a Mini Cooper Convertible with Batman & Robin and our very own webcast Porsche with Starsky & Hutch. Laden with an extra photographer we soon changed him into Huggy Bear. Competitors had a great time and it is something many will never forget. Amazing roads and beautiful scenery gave great delight to excited drivers and time to plan for navigators.
Drivers met at 7.30am to the smell of fresh coffee and bacon sarnies. Damon Hill was upstairs entertaining the teams in a photo shoot and the tarmac filled with gorgeous motors. This was exciting stuff. Soon teams were to take to the track for a lap of the Goodwood Circuit behind the Rolls Royce of Lord March, waived off by Damon and Andy...\n\nThis was really a day of two halves. The morning lived and breathed tarmac, rubber and adrenalin. The support of Damon Hill not only added to the legendary motorsport history of Goodwood, but gave a real focal point to the Down's Syndrome Association charity being supported by the event. Together with a brave young boy called Andy, Damon took a yellow Lamborghini around the circuit, fullfilling one of Andy's dreams.
What a fantastic way to introduce the event. Champagne reception amongst some beautiful motors, gorgeous people and two very worthwhile charities. Rob Bellinger graciously introduced the evening followed by a very entertaining Jason Dawe and Penny Mallory hosted charity auction. A great success as already close to £20,000 has been raised by the auction alone. Video link coming shortly.... click through for images.
