Bournemouth International Centre welcomes College of Podiatry back to Bournemouth for 2014 Event      Published on 3 September 2013

The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) will welcome the College of Podiatry for their Annual Conference & Exhibition in November 2014.

The College of Podiatry's Annual Conference & Exhibition is the largest podiatry event in Europe, attracting more than 90 exhibitors and 1,200 delegates over three days.

The conference is made up of a varied and exciting programme of speakers and workshops which cover specialist areas within podiatry; plus social evenings to enable delegates to network and build new partnerships with key stakeholders within the industry.

College of Podiatry Communications Officer, Adam Thomas said: "The College of Podiatry is delighted to be returning to Bournemouth. The exceptional welcome and service we receive from everyone at the BIC gives us great confidence that our delegates will enjoy a flawlessly run conference. It is always a bonus when the host town is an attraction in itself and we hope to continue to build our attendance at the event in 2014."

The College of Podiatry, which is linked to the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, was created in 2011 to inform and influence academic learning and research, educate and raise awareness of the importance of foot health and bring it higher up the public health agenda. The last time the Conference was held in Bournemouth in 2010 it was known as the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists Conference.

"It is excellent news the College of Podiatry have chosen to return to Bournemouth for their annual conference and exhibition; we are very much looking forward to welcoming organisers, delegates and exhibitors back to the coast and giving them a warm Bournemouth welcome." adds Peter Gunn, Chief Executive for BH Live.

The three day event, to be held at the Bournemouth International Centre from the 13 – 15 November 2014, is expected to contribute an estimated £1.2 million of economic benefit into the region.

Starting in Poole Park, the routes take you around one of the largest natural harbours in the world, before heading out into the lush countryside of the Isle of Purbeck. The 55 mile (long) route heads west then south to sweep down through Lulworth, before heading down the coast to Swanage and back to Poole via the Ferry at Studland Bay. The 35 mile (medium) route follows the long route to Corfe Castle where the two routes part ways as the medium riders cut across to Studland where it rejoins all the the other routes. The medium route can be shortened to 30 miles, taking cyclists along flat woodlands next to the harbour. The 17 mile (short) route riders cycle to Studland and back crossing the water by ferry twice. The 55 and 17 mile routes are on road. The 30 mile route includes approx. 2 miles on unmetalled Sustrans cyclepath, some of which has a loose gravel surface.
