Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the ninth largest city in the whole of Spain with a population approaching 400,000. This vibrant city has a cosmopolitan feel with African, Chinese and Indian influences. A visit to Gran Canaria would not be complete without experiencing the many sights, the bustling shopping districts, the street cafes and bars, and of course the thriving port.
The old quarter of Las Palmas is Vegueta, an atmospheric and fashionable district, with a fine selection of boutiques and cool bars. The Playa de las Canteras is one of europe's best urban beaches and stretches for 2 kilometres and at sunset its beachfront terraces fill up and the promenade’s cafés, bars and restaurants are lively into the night. Venture into the confusing maze of streets behind the beach and you'll find excellent restaurants serving more than the usual array of Canarian dishes.
