    6th of January, Three Kings - Kids get gifts from the three kings on the night before the sixth. On the fifth there is a procession through the streets where the kings throw candy to the crowds!

     January 6 - Dia de Los Reyes in Spanish - is virtually as important as Christmas itself in Spain, especially for kids, as this is the day when they get their presents! The fun starts the evening before, when the three kings lead their procession through the streets, throwing sweets to the children. The next morning, the children wake up to find their presents have been left overnight!

    Since Spain legalized same-sex marriage in July 2005, Madrid has become one of the largest hot spots for LGBT culture. With about 500 businesses aimed toward the LGBT community, Madrid has become a “Gateway of Diversity”.Madrid’s Pride Parade began in 1977, in the Chueca neighborhood, which also marked the beginning of the gay, lesbian, transgender, and bisexual rights movement after being repressed for forty years in a dictatorship. This claiming of LGBT rights has allowed the Pride Parade in Madrid to grow year after year, becoming one of the best in the world. In 2007, this was recognized by the European Pride Owners Association (EPOA) when Madrid hosted Europride, the Official European Pride Parade. It was hailed by the President of the EPOA as “the best Europride in history”. In 2017, Madrid plan celebrated the 40th anniversary of their first Pride Parade with WorldPride Madrid 2017.

    Christmas Markets begin, this year, on November 20 and close at 5th January. Monday to Thursday open from 10: 00h to 21: 30h. Frydays, Saturdays and eve and 22: 30h.

    Plaza Mayor Christmas Market, the main Christmas market and one of the oldest in the country - middle of the nineteenth century, with many selling points and typical decorations Dfinitely a classic in Madrid!

    Plaza de Callao, Plaza de Santo Domingo and the Plaza del Carmen Christmas Markets, all three of them are between Sol and Gran Vía, especially dedicated to crafts.

    The "Noche Vieja" (New Year's Eve) is celebrated with enthusiasm, involves a special meal, liters of "cava" (spanish sparkling wine) and the curious tradition of eating 12 grapes vague at midnight chimes!

    Other European cities also celebrate the year-end parties, but none of these celebrations is the same one that lives in Madrid!

    The capital of Spain is home to some of the largest and most colourful New Year celebrations. People gather to celebrate by drinking a glass of sparking Spanish wine "cava", to dance and listen to music and enthusiastically welcoming the New Year.

    For a special celebration, you can not let go to "Puerta del Sol" or ""Plaza Santa Ana".

    The center of Madrid is where all are directed on the 31th of December. The clock placed under the roof of the headquarters of the "Ayuntamiento de Madrid" plays the chimes firing the old year and give a warm welcome to the new year that now begings.

    For about 40-60 euros, you can reserve an entry in a New Year's Eve party, a good restaurant, wich includes dinner, drinks and a toast at midnight. Places like Hotel Catalonia Las Cortes are a good choice for people who want to celebrate New Year's Eve in Madrid, in a luxurious setting.

    Other locations in Madrid, where people meet, are Plaza Colon, Plaza Ciebeles and Puerta de Alcala.

La gente se reúne para celebrar bebiendo una copa de espumoso español "cava", bailar, escuchar música y con entusiasmo la bienvenida al Año Nuevo.

    Para una celebración especial, no puede dejar ir a Puerta del Sol o Plaza de Santa Ana. El centro de Madrid es donde todos se dirigen el 31 de Diciembre. En ell reloj colocado en lo Ayuntamento de Madrid las campanadas, dando la bienvenida al nuevo año.
