Leith is an area of Edinburgh that sits to the North East of the city centre. Leith used to be a separate town from Edinburgh, and today many locals still consider themselves from Leith, not Edinburgh.
Today Leith is a centre for fantastic shops, bars, restaurants, cafes and hotels. I know Leith well as it is a place I lived in for a long time, and still visit often. In this Blog post I highlight some of the fab hotels, guest houses, apartments and B&Bs that Leith has to offer.
Malmaison is a super cool boutique hotel right in the heart of Leith. You can find Malmaisons in many towns now but this is where it all began for this fashionable network of hotels. The hotel’s bar and brasserie are worth the visit to Edinburgh alone. Both are glamorous and offer amazing food and drink. The Mal also has a smooth looking gym in which to burn off dinner. Or if you’d prefer to do your exercise al fresco you’ll be delighted to hear that there are local running maps in your room.
Ocean Apartments sit on Western Harbour, a new area of Leith as it’s on reclaimed land. The serviced apartments are new, clean, comfortable, and professionally run. The 58 apartments are set on 6 floors, with many of the apartments having amazing views over the Firth of Forth and beyond – ask for a room with a view when booking. There’s also a regular bus (every 15 mins) to take you in to the centre of Edinburgh.
Oakhill Apartments offer beautifully fitted 5-star serviced apartments, with free parking and free WiFi. You can choose from 1, 2, and 3 bed luxury apartments. The Oakhill team are very friendly, without being intrusive, and will go out their way to help. Oakhill Apartments are a great base to explore the surrounding area, and suit the corporate and leisure traveller in equal measure.
