The 2012 Edinburgh International Festival runs from the 9th August to 2nd September and promises to offer the most inspirational opera, music, theatre, dance and visual arts found anywhere in the world. This year’s Edinburgh International Festival takes a look at the power of the arts to transcend geographical boundaries and differences – uniting people from around the world. This year’s theme is in reference to what’s taking place in London this summer – thousands of elite athletes coming together from across the globe to compete in the Olympics.
The 2012 Edinburgh International Festival will take place at venues across the city. Below we reveal where to stay to be near these world-class venues.
Hotel du Vin – originally a lunatic asylum, now an innovative hotel. This warm and design orientated hotel offers a fabulous restaurant, great wine menu and something different from the rest of the pack.
The Glasshouse – a boutique hotel in the East End of Edinburgh. Very stylish with fantastic views from the rooftop gardens of Calton Hill.
The Caledonian Hilton – soon to become a Waldorf Astoria, the Caledonian Hilton is in the process of having a face lift. In the mean time, you can still enjoy the height of luxury in each of the hotel’s 254 rooms. This is where Sean Connery often stays whilst in his home town.
