Edinburgh has a wealth of fabulous guest houses to choose from. There are more than 300 guest houses on offer and choosing one to stay at can be tricky.
If you like your accommodation cosy, friendly, homely and with a soupçon of luxury then Edinburgh has the perfect guest house for you.
To give you a helping hand here are 5 of my favourite guest houses in Edinburgh.
Inchgrove House – most guest houses in Edinburgh are a wee bit out of the city centre but staying at Inchgrove House will put you in the heart of the New Town, and near Princes Street. Inchgrove House is a fully restored 5 storey Town House dating from the 1820s. The guest house offers a fully-cooked breakfast, including Scottish delicacies such as smoked haddock and haggis, and many of the best restaurants & bistros in the city are nearby. What more could you ask for?
53 Frederick Street – again, a guest house that is right in the city centre. 53 Frederick Street is a family run guest house that’s super friendly and wonderfully managed. The rooms are classic Georgian design with high ceilings, cornicing and original fire places. The rooms are also contemporary with modern technology and designer fittings. The guest house has a great range of double/twin, triple and quad rooms. Baby-sitting services are available if you’d like a night off.
Kew House & Apartments – to the west of the city centre you will find the 5-Star luxury guest house Kew House. The guest house is ideally located for Murrayfield Stadium or for our 2 lovely Giant Pandas at Edinburgh Zoo. Kew House has 6 bedrooms, each with ensuite facilities and all the little touches you would expect, including Taylor of London toiletries, tea and coffee with biscuits, WiFi, digital television, parking and a full Scottish breakfast all included in the rate. Personally run by Ian Hamilton and Alan Gray, the bedrooms are immaculately maintained with comfortable beds (king size in double rooms). There are also two luxurious serviced apartments to choose from if you like a little more space and privacy.
23 Mayfield is in a lovely residential area on the South Side of Edinburgh, approximately one mile from the city centre. Within the 19th century exterior you will find quality cornicing and many more original features. The accommodation has all you need for a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, including WiFi and the residents Clubroom, where you can sink in to the antique leather Chesterfields and digest the rare books dating from 1740. Free secure residents parking is also available.
Allison House – here’s another gorgeous guest house in the South Side of Edinburgh. Allison House is a Georgian Listed building with many original features. The hotel has free car parking and is within a 20 minute walk to all the main attractions of Edinburgh. Buses to the city centre pass the house every 2 minutes. All rooms have recently been refurbished and have free WiFi. This elegant town house has 11 lovely en suite bedrooms to choose from.
