Whether you are heading to The Barbican for business or pleasure take a look at our selection of excellent hotels and apartments located nearby.

Rookery 1764 Hotel – Quietly located in Smithfield, in the City of London, a short distance from St Paul’s and the Bank of England, the only remaining early houses in Peter’s Lane have been restored to create this delightful small hotel.
Many Restaurants and Pubs are available in the area. Several on the doorstep. Quiet at weekends. Open fires, mellow panelling and period furniture give The Rookery its unique, homely atmosphere. Even the bathroom fittings are genuine antiques, all lovingly restored. Castle wardrobes and secretaires, vast oak beds with ornately carved gothic headboards, Victorian commodes, inlaid tables and original oak panelling have all been restored in these rooms which were once home to a magistrate, an architect, a surgeon and a master baker to name a few of the original inhabitants. You can sense the abience of Georgian London as you push open the hand carved front door. Guests are looked after by helpful, intelligent staff. Rooms have space to work or relax. Communications are state of the art. And….the croissants are baked fresh on the premises each morning (sadly not on the period kitchen range, which still exists below stairs).

Zetter Hotel – A dynamic conversion from an historic 19th-century warehouse, the Zetter has five floors set around a spectacular central atrium. Rooms feature huge factory windows and exposed brick. The décor is wonderfully eclectic; 1970’s furniture, hand-printed panels, state-of-the-art showers, and cosy touches such as hot water bottles and old Penguin paperbacks. Instead of minibars, there are vending machines on each floor dispensing everything from toothpaste to champagne; just insert your room card and the charge is put on your account. The top-floor studios have sundecks with far-reaching views across the city. The hotel’s modern Italian restaurant is a destination in its own right. Situated in Clerkenwell, between the West End and the City, and an area best known for its cool loft apartments, it now has its first loft-style hotel.

Calico House Apartments – Calico House, a modern development of 34 apartments is located in the heart of the City, minutes from St Paul’s Cathedral. Surrounded by an abundance of good restaurants, pubs, shops and stylish boutiques, all to be found in bustling Bow Lane. Accommodation ranges from spacious Executive Studios and delightful one-bedroom Apartments, to a luxury two-bedroom Penthouse. Beautifully designed interiors with modern living in mind, Calico House will appeal to both business executives and discerning travellers alike. Whilst offering ISDN 2 facility to all apartments, each apartment has the latest audio-visual equipment, satellite TV and so much more.
